PHILOSOPHY
*We will dive into the Indian philosophy of yoga in this portion of the course, covering several texts.
*Patanjali’s 8 limbs of yoga in the Yoga Sutras:
yamas, niyamas, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi will be explained and explored.
*Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita on family, duty, choice.
*Hatha Yoga Pradipika written by Swami Svatmarama,
one of the three main hatha yoga texts.
*The three gunas will be discussed in detail:
sattva, rajas and tamas and how they
relate to the present daily life.
*Intro to Tantra
*The 7 Bhoomikas
*Shariras & Kleshas
*and more...
We will go over how we all have these within us and how to work with them for a balanced and healthy existence.
